TSCHE to introduce BA Honors!!
If possible, it will be implemented from 2021, said council chairman Professor R. Limbadri. He said he would soon discuss the nature of the course with the vice-chancellors of the universities. Authorities will plan to make the course available in all varsity colleges. State students are going to Delhi and Bengaluru for BA Honors. The Department of Education has focused on this as the pressure to have honors in Telangana has increased. The popularity of BA courses is declining in the wake of vocational courses such as engineering.
Changes are being made to meet current needs in this context. Adding technology, engineering-style market needs are being assessed during the course. For this, the academy has also entered into a memorandum of understanding with leading software companies. Another change, officials say, is the introduction of a new Honors course. The duration of the BA course is currently three years. Adding Honors will change to four years. Subjects going to be designed to be more in-depth, to be studied. Varsity professors say this will increase perfection in the student even at the degree stage. The duration of the post-graduate course will be reduced from two years to one year after completion of Honors. Proposals for this course were made in 2020. It did not move forward due to Covid. Now it’s going to speed up. Professor Gopal Reddy, a member of the University Grants Commission (UGC), said honors could be mandatory everywhere in the future.
