The Andhra Pradesh state government will take steps to finalize the probation of village and ward secretariat employees by the end of June, said state panchayati raj and rural development minister Peddireddy Ramachandrareddy.

The minister said that the government was taking steps to provide better services to the people through village and ward volunteers and village and ward secretariats. A coordination committee meeting chaired by Minister Peddireddy on the system of village, ward volunteer, village and ward secretariats was held on 27th January at the Secretariat. Deputy Chief Minister Dharmana Krishnadas, Municipal Minister Botsa Satyanarayana, Social Welfare Minister Pinipey Vishwaroop, Energy Minister Balineni Srinivasareddy, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister Sidiri Appalaraju, Village and Ward Secretariats, Adviser Dhanunjaya Reddy and officials of the concerned departments were present.

Vacancies in Village and Ward Secretariats ..

Minister Peddireddy said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had directed to fill the vacancies in the village and ward secretariats expeditiously. We will take action accordingly. Village and ward secretariat staff were ordered to be available to the public daily from 3pm to 5pm. Ajay Jain, Special Principal Secretary, Village and Ward Secretariats, has been directed to take the respective departmental certificates regarding the performance of the staff working in the Village and Ward Secretariats.

Municipal Minister Botsa Satyanarayana said that CM YS Jagan on Thursday launched the Citizen Services Portal (AP Service Portal) to provide more services to the people through village and ward secretariats. He said people could apply for various services from any secretariat. Ajay Jain, Special Principal Secretary, Village, Ward Volunteer, Village and Ward Secretariats, gave a power point presentation. At present, there are 11,162 in the villages and 3,842 in the towns. A total of 15,004 secretariats are functioning. He said 11 functionaries were working in the village secretariats and 10 in the ward secretariats. He said the CM had directed that 14,493 vacancies in these secretariats be filled up expeditiously. So far 3.50 crore services have been provided to the people through village and ward secretariats.
