Earlier I could not score well in the practice papers of the college which made me fear of the exam. I kept on improving and could remain in the top ten of the college. There is no particular strategy I followed in preparing for the IIT-JEE. The syllabus in my college is so designed that it covers the intermediate with IIT-JEE orientation. The syllabus is completed within 14 to 15 months and rest of the time is for revision. This made us not to spend much time on inter and one week before the exam has been sufficient for me towards the examination.
Marks Secured:
I scored 154 in Maths, 148 in Physics, 138 in Chemistry and total of 440 out of 480
More time on Chemistry:
I felt Chemistry a relatively tough subject than Maths and Physics and spent much time on it. I concentrated more on the theory part and followed standard textbooks for preparation and took the help of teachers on difficult topics. The support they gave me throughout my preparation has made me achieve this kind of result. Even my parents never scolded me on my low performance. They always motivated me to my goal.
Expected a good rank:
I expected I would do well in the IIT-JEE and be among the top 10 rankers on seeing the key but had never dreamt I was going to be the top ranker. The result was a great surprise to me and was engulfed with the blessing and wishes of my parents, college management and my friends.
My aim is to become an IAS officer:
I decided to take Electrical Engineering in IIT, Mumbai and further appear for the civil services and become an IAS officer.
My advice to the IIT aspirants is:
Hard work always ensures success; Follow the classes of teacher without fail; never lose confidence in you. First answer the easy questions and then go for difficult ones. Be thorough with the concepts and do not byheart.
