Can you tell us about your family background?
I am the younger of the two sons. My father is an employee in Canara Bank. My mother is a home maker. My brother a Computer Science engineering graduate and he is currently working in TCS, Noida.
Have you taken GATE earlier and how was your performance in it?
Yes. I appeared in GATE 2010 and secured 723rd rank.
When did you start preparing for GATE?
When I was in 2nd year, I had first thought of doing M.Tech and I came to know that I had to get a good rank in GATE in order to do M.Tech in prestigious institutes like IISc and IIT. So I appeared in GATE 2010 to know my position in this competitive world.
Did you expect this rank in GATE?
I never expected a rank in GATE. I just wanted to do M.Tech in any reputed institute.
How did you prepare for this exam- intensive, selective or extensive study?
I do not believe in selective preparation. What I actually feel is if I am thorough in the concepts of electrical engineering, I can be successful in any competitive exam.
Who was the inspiration behind your success? How is the support from your parents?
I want to thank all the faculty members of our College particularly EEE department who encouraged me throughout my B.Tech. My parents and my brother supported me a lot in every aspect of life. Without their encouragement, I would not have been successful.
Which books and material did you refer to in your preparation?
All prescribed text books of Electrical Engineering and ACE material.
What was your methodology while preparing for GATE?
I concentrated more on the basics. Then I went for the objective part. I think solving the objective part is essential because it improves our self confidence.
What suggestion and preparation tips would you like to give to GATE aspirants?
Be thorough with the basic concepts. Once you have gone through all the basics, try to solve the objective part.
