Deadline for National Merit Scholarships Extended: Check Last Date to Apply

The Ministry of Education has announced an extension for both fresh and renewal applications under the National Merit Scholarship scheme. The new deadline for submission has been set to November 30, 2024, allowing more time for eligible students to apply.

This extension applies to students who passed the Intermediate Public Examination in 2024 and are submitting Fresh Applications. It also includes students who had previously qualified for the National Scholarship and wish to renew their applications for the 2024-25 academic year. Additionally, institutions have until December 15, 2024, to verify applications through their Institute Nodal Officers (INO).

How to Apply for National Merit Scholarship

Eligible students are required to apply through the official website: scholarships.gov.in, where a list of the top 20% percentile candidates from IPE 2024 is available. This list includes 59,355 candidates in the General+OBC+SC+ST category, 32,392 from OBC, 8,089 from SC, and 5,198 from ST. Further details can be accessible via the tgbie.cgg.gov.in portal.

In a bid to maximize access to the scholarship, the Ministry has issued revised guidelines for students who missed applying for renewal on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Those students are now allowed to reapply, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. A new OTR ID will be generated and sent to their registered mobile numbers, after which they can submit their documents online for verification and renewal. The Ministry will then assess their eligibility for the upcoming academic year 2024-25.
