Giving and asking for directions

In these days of fast moving people travel from place to place in short time and it has become quite common to stay at new places. The purpose may be an official or personal one they need to enquire about places and different destinations. At the same time they may have to give directions to strangers to our place. Unless there is clarity in either asking for or giving directions there is a chance to mislead and misguide. Hence it is a technique to ask for and give directions.
We will learn in this module how to give and ask about directions.

Study the following conversation
Siddu:
Hai! Abhi, welcome to Vizag. I’m so happy that we are going to work together.
Abhi: I too am thrilled when I came to know I would come to my dream place to work with you. I would like to enjoy going around the interesting places before I join on duty. Can you tell the way to beach?
Siddu: Now we stay at Dwarakanagar. Take 28 metro towards beach and get off at the last bus stop. That is Ramakrishna beach.
Abhi: How to move from there?
Siddu: When you face the sea, to your right you find the harbour. To your back, beside super market you find the Kali Ma temple.
Abhi: Where is hotel Park? How do I get there?
Siddu: Go down the beach road you find the Park a star Hotel. It is on your right.
Abhi: How about going to Bheemili?
Siddu: It’s a lovely idea to go there along the beach road. You will come across many parks and beautiful scenes. On your right you have the beach and on your left you have hills and valleys. You can transfer to Junram bus to save time.
Abhi: How do I go to Araku?
Siddu: Book your ticket through tourism. Train journey to Araku Valley is a marvelous experience. Take Kirandal passenger train from the railway station and it moves through tunnenls, across the fields, and over the bridges.
Abhi: Till I get a house to live in I would like To stay in a hotel.
Siddu: Now we are at RTC complex junction. Go straight, walk past ANR shopping Mall. Turn left on the Dwaraka nagar first lane you find Hotel Sarovar.
Abhi: Thank you so much for your guidance. I will meet you later.
Siddu: O k. Have a nice time. Enjoy your journey.

Observe the expressions
Hari:
Excuse me. Is there a swimming pool here?
Ravi: Yes there is one on Kirlampudi Street.
Hari: How do I get there?
Ravi: At the traffic lights, take right and walk along A U Out gate down lane. It is on your right.
Hari: Is there any landmark to identify easily.
Ravi: Yes there is one aqua museum beside it. But it is not too far.
Hari: I’m going by a car.
Ravi: If so, go straight until you cross a junction. There are no traffic signals but a lady constable giving directions.
