9,79,327 lakh jobs in central government: Check department wise vacancy details!!
It also reported that there are 2.93 lakh posts in railways. Next in priority, Defense Department has 2.64 lakh vacancies and Home Ministry has 1.43 lakh vacancies. Union Minister of State for Personnel Affairs Jitendra Singh has given a written reply to Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Modi's question in Rajya Sabha.
In the Rajya Sabha, Shri Sushil Kumar Modi raised below questions -
- the target for providing jobs to ten lakh people in one year by Government, Department-wise;
- the status of vacancies in Government at present, Department-wise;
- the vacancies of SCs, STs, OBCs, EBCs and EWSs therein, category-wise;
- the number of jobs targeted to be provided to the persons belonging to SCs, STs, OBCs, EBCs and EWSs categories out of the bouquet of 10 lakh jobs;
- the number of persons who have been provided jobs out of the 10 lakh jobs as on date; and
- by when the National Recruitment Agency will be operational, the current status thereof?

Minister of state in the ministry of personnel, public grievances and pensions and minister of state in the prime minister’s office (Dr. Jitendra Singh) has responded as below-
- Recruitment against vacant posts is a continuous process. Vacancies in various Central Government Ministries/ Departments and their Attached and Subordinate offices are caused due to retirement, resignation, death, promotion etc. of the employee. Rozgar Mela events are being held across the country and the new appointees are inducted into various Central Ministries/ Departments/ Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs)/ Autonomous Bodies/ Public Sector Banks etc. The details of number of jobs provided are maintained by the respective Ministries/Departments/ Organisations.
- Department-wise status of the vacancies in Government as on 01.03.2021 is at Annexure.
- & (d): Category-wise details of vacancies/ recruitments is maintained by the respective Ministries/ Departments/ Organisations.
- Rozgar Mela is expected to continue to act as a catalyst in further employment and self employment generation and provide gainful service opportunities to the 10 lakh youth over a period of one year or so.
- The National Recruitment Agency (NRA) has been constituted. The NRA has conducted a detailed study of the recruitment systems in the Centre as well as States in order to adopt the best practices.
