Notification for 48,000 Postal GDS Posts Soon!

A notification of vacancies is expected to be issued in the last week of January 2025. It is expected that there are around 48,000 GDS vacancies across India. The following timeline has been outlined for completing the preparatory activities:

India Post GDS Vacancies
The notification will include or exclude vacancies based on specific criteria:
To Be Included:
- Vacancies arising between 01.07.2024 and 31.12.2024 due to:
- Death, resignation, or discharge (including voluntary discharge).
- Termination, removal, or dismissal on disciplinary grounds.
- Promotions and long-term deputations (above six months) to IPPB or APS.
- Unfilled vacancies from previous recruitment cycles, such as:
- Schedule-July 2024.
- Schedule-II, July 2023, and Special Drive, May 2023 (Manipur), excluding pipeline cases.

Pipeline Vacancies:
- Pending verification reports from boards, including:
- Allahabad Board (UP), West Bengal Board, and Bihar Board.
- Pre-joining formalities in progress for candidates shortlisted in earlier lists.
To Be Excluded:
- Posts declared surplus or under consideration for surplus.
- Vacancies caused by the death of GDS where six months have not elapsed as of 31.12.2024.
Submission Deadline
Circles must adhere to the prescribed timelines and upload a certificate signed by DPS (HQ) by 24.01.2025, confirming the completion of preparatory activities. This includes Division-wise vacancy details for final notification generation. The department urges strict compliance to ensure the seamless execution of the recruitment process.
India Post GDS Salary:
Candidates selected for the post of Branch Postmaster (BPM) will receive a monthly salary ranging from ₹12,000 to ₹29,380. Similarly, those appointed as Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)/Dak Sevak will receive a monthly salary ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹24,470.
In addition to these, incentives will be provided for services related to the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB). A nominal House Rent Allowance (HRA) is also included. For performing daily duties, the postal department will provide necessary equipment like laptops, computers, or smartphones. Candidates must reside in accessible proximity to the assigned office.
India Post GDS Recruitment: Selection Process
Candidates selected for these positions will be informed by the postal department according to the merit list. The selected candidates will receive information through SMS, email, and post to the mobile number provided in their application. Additionally, the selection list will be available on the official website. If candidates selected in the first list do not join the positions for any reason, a second list will be released. If vacancies remain after the second list, a third list will be issued, followed by a fourth list if needed. Candidates are shortlisted based on the rule of reservation and marks through a computer-generated programming system.
