Electronics & Communications Engineering

Electronics & Communications Engineering is one of the largest and fastest growing fields of engineering. It covers a wide range of applications which make our life easier and enjoyable such as television, radio, computers, telecommunication. They help us to see, hear and communicate over vast distances and do things faster. Electronics has a major role in improving productivity in industries like oil, energy, agriculture and so many other important sectors of economy. Electronic devices direct, control and test production processes in steel, petroleum and chemical industries. Healthcare industry depends on electronic instruments to perform chemical tests and to check body functions. Electronics play a pivotal role for safety in transportation, factories & mines and homes.

Eligibility:
For admission in a bachelor’s degree, the candidate must have passed (10+2) examination and in AP students are admitted through EAMCET. For IITs and NITs It is mandatory to qualify in the Joint Entrance Examinations (J.E.E)

Selecting College
In all University engineering colleges, 100% placements to the students is possible, where as in some of the highly ranked private college up to 80% placement is possible. But in lower ranked private colleges, the placement is not that attractive, only up to 40% placement is possible. Keeping this aspect in mind choosing of Institution also is playing a key role in getting placement. Keeping above factors in view the branch selection and institute selection should go together for the student to opt for.

What does an Electronics and Communication Engineer do?

  • Electronics and Communication Engineering branch deals with analog transmission, digital transmission, reception of video, voice and data, basic electronics, solid state devices, microprocessors, digital and analog communication, analog integrated circuits, satellite communication, microwave engineering, antennae and wave progression.
  • It also deals with the manufacturing of electronic devices, circuits, and communications equipment like transmitter, receiver, integrated circuits, microwaves, and fiber among others.
  • It aims to deepen the knowledge and skills of the students on the basic concepts and theories that will equip them in their professional work involving analysis, systems implementation, operation, production, and maintenance of the various applications in the field of Electronics and Communications Engineering.
Job Prospects
As an Electronic Engineer, entry for junior posts in the Government departments is by direct recruitment through advertisements in newspapers. Selection to Gazetted posts is through the competitive examinations conducted by Union and State Public Service Commission. UPSC conducts an Engineering Service Examination (Telecommunication and Electronics Engineering group) annually for vacancies in Central Engineering Services and various State Public Service commissions conduct their own competitive Exams for vacancies in State engineering services. Even if you opt teaching profession, they can experience full satisfaction in their job, as many top rankers will choose this branch with a lot of enthusiasm and hard work.

The Electronics & Communications branch provides employability to the student on equal priorities with hard-core and software companies with bright opportunities in abroad after doing specialization in one of the emerging fields of Electronics & Communications.
