Neeraj Chopra Olympics: The man with Golden arm 2022

- Subedar Neeraj Chopra PVSM VSM, the reigning Olympic champion in the javelin throw, is an Indian track and field athlete. Chopra joined the Indian Army as a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and Naib Subedar in 2016, serving in the 4 Rajputana Rifles, one of the Army’s oldest rifle units. JCOs acquire the rank of Naib Subedar after 20 years of service.
- Neeraj Chopra, became the country’s first Olympic gold medalist in track and field on August 7, 2021.
- In his second attempt, he threw 87.58 metres to win the gold medal for India in the Tokyo Olympic Games.
- After Abhinav Bindra, he is the second Indian to win a gold medal in an individual event.
