Indian table tennis star G. Sathiyan has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Indian to claim victory in the men's singles category at a WTT Feeder Series event. This remarkable feat unfolded in Beirut, Lebanon, where Sathiyan emerged triumphant over compatriot Manav Thakkar with a 3-1 (6-11 11-7 11-7 11-4) win in the final of the WTT Feeder Beirut 2024 on Thursday night.
Sathiyan's Journey to Success:
Seeded No.11 in the tournament, Sathiyan embarked on an impressive journey to reach the final. He showcased his prowess by overcoming formidable opponents such as the No.5 seed Harmeet Desai (15-13 6-11 11-8 13-11) and top seed Chuang Chih-Yuan (11-8 11-13 11-8 11-9) on his path to the championship match.
However, it was the final showdown against the No.9 seed Manav Thakkar that Sathiyan will hold dear, as he rallied from an initial setback to clinch victory in four thrilling games.
