India Gears Up for Paris 2024 Olympics!
The highly anticipated Olympic Games will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024, in Paris, France. With a strong leadership team and a talented contingent, India is poised to make a significant mark on the world stage.
Sharath Kamal, a table tennis powerhouse, will proudly bear the Indian flag at the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics, as announced by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). Ranked a formidable World No. 88, Kamal boasts a record-breaking 10 national table tennis championship titles.
But his accolades extend far beyond the national level. He has secured a staggering 13 medals at the Commonwealth Games, including a dazzling seven golds, and added two more medals to his collection at the Asian Games. Three prestigious bronze medals at the World Championships solidify his legendary status in the sport.
Joining Kamal in the spotlight is the iconic MC Mary Kom, who takes on the role of Chef de Mission for the Summer Games. A five-time Asian champion and the pioneering woman to claim six world boxing titles, Mary Kom's impact on the sport is undeniable. This boxing legend paved the way for Indian women by securing the nation's first-ever gold medal in women's boxing at the 2014 Asian Games. Her prowess extends to the global stage, evidenced by her bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympics. Her remarkable journey began at just 18, when she left her mark at the inaugural world championship event in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Additionally, Gagan Narang, a 2012 London Olympics bronze medalist in the 10m air rifle event, will head the shooting village operations. Shooting holds immense significance for India, having secured the country's first individual Olympic medal in 2008.
