• World Rapid and Blitz championship 2023 is underway at Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The rapid event has concluded with IM Anastasia Bodnaruk clinched the women's title in a nervy blitz playoff with GM Koneru Humpy.
• In open section GM Magnus carlsen secured the world rapid chess crown for a record fifth time while the Indian GM Vidit Gujrathi had to content with the fourth place.
