CM Jagan inaugurated Global Spices Processing Unit; to create employment for 33,000 people
AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy inaugurated the ITC Global Spices Processing Unit at the Vankayalapadu Spice Park in Yadlapadu mandal.

The CM said that the Global Spices Processing Facility unit set up by ITC will benefit thousands of farmers. He said that 20 thousand metric tons of 15 types of spices will be processed annually with a cost of Rs.200 crores. If the second phase is completed, the largest spices processing unit in the country will be in AP. He said that this unit will be useful for 14 thousand farmers. The unit was completed within 24 months.

He reminded that AP has been ranked number one in the country in ease of doing business for three years. He said that food processing units are going to be set up in every district with 3450 crores. 33 thousand people will get jobs due to the establishment of food processing units. Under the first phase, 10 units with a cost of Rs.1250 crore will be laid in December and January. He said that food processing units are a boon to farmers.

About 6.2 acres are used to process chillies as well as turmeric, ginger, coriander, cardamom and other spices. Around 170 villages with more than 10,000 farmers are cultivating spices. The company is buying those crops directly from the farmers.
