New Election Commissioners of ECI

• Shri Gyanesh Kumar and Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu officially assumed their roles as Election Commissioners within the Election Commission of India.
• Welcoming them aboard, Chief Election Commissioner Shri Rajiv Kumar acknowledged the challenging twelve weeks ahead, marked by the upcoming General Elections 2024 in the world's largest democracy. He underscored the significance of their appointment at this crucial juncture in history.
• The notification announcing the appointment of the Election Commissioners was published in the Gazette on March 14, 2024. Both Shri Gyanesh Kumar and Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu hail from the 1988 batch of the Indian Administrative Service, representing the Kerala and Uttarakhand cadres respectively.
