Last rites of Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat to be performed with full Military honours in New Delhi

The last rites of Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat will be performed at Brar Square crematorium in Delhi Cantonment this evening. The last rites of Gen Rawat will be performed with full military honours. His funeral procession will start from KamrajMarg after 2 pm and reach Brar Square crematorium.

Civilians can pay tributes to General Bipin Rawat from 11 am to 12:30 pm at his Kamraj Marg residence, while the military personnel can pay respects between 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. The mortal remains of Gen Rawat and others who lost their lives in the Tamil Nadu chopper crash were brought to Palam Airbase in Delhi from Sulur.

Prime Minister NarendraModi visited Palam airbase yesterday evening and paid his last respects to General BipinRawat, his wife MadhulikaRawat and 11 other military personnel who lost their lives in the chopper crash in Tamil Nadu on 08th Nov.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor AjitDoval and Union Minister SmritiIrani also visited Palam airbase and paid their respects to the departed souls. The three service chiefs - Army Chief Gen MM Naravane, Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar and IAF chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari also paid their respects.

Group Captain Varun Singh, who is the lone survivor from the crash, has been shifted to Air Force Command hospital at Bengaluru for further treatment.
