Polling progressing smoothly for 4th phase of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh

- In Uttar Pradesh, in the fourth phase of Assembly Elections an average voter turnout of 37.45 percent has been registered till One PM. The polling is progressing smoothly. Voting will be conducted till 6.00 P.M. in the 59 Assembly Constituencies that go to the polls today. The state is witnessing Seven-Phase elections.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi requested all the voters through twitter to make their contribution in strengthening the democracy by casting their valuable votes
- Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur has urged all eligible voters to come out of their homes and vote in the fourth phase of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. In a tweet, he said every vote is invaluable and their vote will help in keeping the state riot free, mafia free and fear-free.
- Voting is taking place for 59 Assembly Constituencies spread over 9 districts in this phase. These districts are Pilibhit, LakhimpurKheri, Sitapur, Lucknow, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Fatehpur and Banda.
- The Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) is being used along with Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) at every Polling Station.
- In view of the prevailing pandemic, Election Commission has laid focus on COVID-safe elections with maximum participation. The Commission has decided to allow maximum 1,250 electors at a Polling Station instead of earlier stipulation of 1,500 electors.
