US blocks Pak ambassador Masood Khan’s appointment over 'possible terror links'

- In a massive global embarrassment for Pakistan, the United States blocked the appointment of a new Pakistan ambassador due to possible terror links.
- US Congressman Scott Perry has opposed the proposed appointment of Masood Khan as Pakistani envoy to the US. Perry wrote a stinging letter to US President Joe Biden against Pakistan's decision calling Khan a terror sympathizer who praised terror organizations and terrorists like HizbulMujahideen and BurhanWani. Mr Perry requested President Biden to reject Masood Khan as the next ambassador.
- Perry wrote that Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's nomination of a bona fide terrorist sympathizer working to undermine America's interests in the region as well as the security of Indian allies can only be described as a lack of judgment at best. He said that Mr Imran Khan's decision demonstrates Islamabad’s unmitigated contempt for the United States at worst.
