UAE Inaugurates World’s Largest Single-Site Solar Power Plant

• The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially unveiled the world's largest single-site solar power plant, known as the 2-gigawatt (GW) Al Dhafra Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Independent Power Project (IPP).
• Situated 35 kilometers from Abu Dhabi city, this facility is designed to generate sufficient electricity to meet the needs of nearly 200,000 homes and is projected to mitigate 2.4 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
• The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi. He underscored the significance of the plant as a symbol of advancements in solar power efficiency, innovation, and cost competitiveness.
