India and US discussed issues pertaining to bilateral defence cooperation and regional matters including situation in Afghanistan. In a telephonic talk between Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and US defence secretary Lloyd Austin, both the countries agreed to continue the useful dialogue.

Both the leaders also exchanged views about combating terrorism in the region.
Mr. Singh and Mr Austin appreciated the mutual cooperation in the recent evacuation operations in Afghanistan. Both the countries stressed the need to strengthen the partnership further.
