India-Bangladesh hold Agri-business promotion virtual meet

More than 200 businesses from India and Bangladesh held a virtual conference and trade fair.
Current AffairsThe meeting brought together key stakeholders from trade bodies and the governments on a common platform for strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the agri-food sector.

Speaking on the occasion, High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami said that India offered a vast consumer market available to Bangladesh products under the Duty Free Quota Free (DFQF) system under SAFTA since 2011.

Chairman of the Bangladesh Land Port Authority Md. Alamgir said that the government is in the process of phased development and up gradation of land ports worth BDT 1.5 billion starting with land ports at Benapole, Sutarkandi, Belonia nd Ramgarh.

President of India Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) Abdul Matlub Ahmad urged the multilateral agencies and private sector to invest in the development of Inland Container Depots (ICD), Cold Storages and warehousing facilities at the Land Custom Stations.

An E-Catalogue for the virtual Buyer Seller meet was released during the meeting followed by the virtual trade fair B2B meeting and interaction between exporters and importers.
