NITI Aayog releases Task Force report titled Production & Promotion of Organic & Bio fertilisers with Special Focus on Improving Economic Viability of Gaushalas
- NITI Aayog has released the Task Force report titled “Production and Promotion of Organic and Bio fertilisers with Special Focus on Improving Economic Viability of Gaushalas”.
- The Task Force was constituted by NITI Aayog to suggest measures to make Gaushalas economically viable, address the problem of stray and abandoned cattle, and effective utilisation of cow dung and cow urine in the agriculture and energy sectors. The report provides a factual estimate of operating costs and fixed costs and other issues in respect of Gaushalas and the cost and investments involved in setting up the Bio-CNG plant and PROM plant in Gaushalas.
- The report was released by Prof Ramesh Chand, Member (Agriculture), NITI Aayog in the presence of Taskforce members Yesterday. Speaking at the event, Prof Ramesh Chand said in the last 50 years, a serious imbalance emerged in the use of inorganic fertiliser and livestock manure. He added that this is adversely affecting soil health, food quality, efficiency, environment, and human health.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi calls for developing a dynamic system for disaster management
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for developing a dynamic system for disaster management.Recognition and reform are essential to strengthen disaster management.
- This year's theme of the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction is building local resilience in the face of climate change.
- Bringing reform in the disaster reduction system is the best way to reduce the probability of disaster. Enriching local technology and material with new technology is the need of the hour. The Prime Minister added that when we link the examples of local resilience with future technology, only then we will be able to do better in the direction of disaster resilience.
India & Australia agree to bolster Comprehensive Strategic Partnership at 1st India-Australia Annual Summit in New Delhi
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese today held a delegation level bilateral talks in New Delhi
- During the first India-Australia Annual Summit, both the countries shared their commitment towards further deepening of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Both the nations exchanged MoU for cooperation in sports and audio-visual co-production.
- The Indian and Australian side also exchanged Terms of Reference for India-Australia Solar Task Force, Letter of Intent between Atal Innovation Mission and Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization.
- India and Australia held extensive deliberations to further strengthen their cooperation. He said, security cooperation is an important pillar of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
- Both countries also held discussions on further strengthening their security and defence cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla reaches Bahrain's capital Manama to attend 146th Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union
- Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla arrived in Bahrain's capital Manama today, leading an Indian Parliamentary delegation, to attend the 146th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
- The Lok Sabha Speaker received a warm welcome from the Deputy Chairman and Members of the Bahrain Parliament Shura Jamal Fakhro. The 146th Assembly of the IPU will be held in Manama, Bahrain from the 11th of March to the 15th of March.
- The Indian delegation will participate in the Asia Pacific Group meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Later, Birla will lead members of the Indian delegation at the opening ceremony to be held in the Plenary Hall under the patronage of the King of Bahrain.
- The Indian Parliamentary delegation will also attend the General Debate of the 146th Assembly of the IPU on the 12th of March. Birla will address the Assembly on the topic: "Promoting peaceful co-existence and inclusive societies: Fight against intolerance".

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia & Islamic Republic of Iran agree to resume diplomatic relations between them
- According to the Joint Trilateral Statement issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the People’s Republic of China, an agreement has been reached between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran, to resume diplomatic relations between them.
- It has been agreed to re-open their embassies and missions within a period not exceeding two months. The agreement includes their affirmation of the respect for the sovereignty of states and the non-interference in each others internal affairs.
- They also agreed that the Ministers of foreign affairs of both countries shall meet to implement this, arrange for the return of their ambassadors, and discuss means of enhancing bilateral relations. The three countries expressed their keenness to exert all efforts towards enhancing regional and international peace and security.
US House of Representatives votes unanimously for declassification of intelligence about origins of COVID-19
- The US House of Representatives unanimously voted for declassification of intelligence about origins of COVID-19. The development has come nearly three years after the start of the deadly pandemic. US lawmakers voted 419 to 0 in favor of declassification.
- Since the Senate on the 1st of March passed the bill by unanimous consent, it now goes to the White House for President Joe Biden to sign into law or veto.
- Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Michael Turner said, the American public deserves answers to every aspect of the COVID-19 pandemic. The intelligence that would be declassified as a result of the legislation will also have information relating to potential links between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the origin of the Corona Virus disease. If the legislation is signed into a law, it will require release within 90 days.

Central Govt releases 14th instalment of tax devolution to State governments
- The Central Government has released the 14th instalment of tax devolution to State governments amounting to 1,40,318 crore rupees. In a statement, the Ministry of Finance said that this amount is as against the normal monthly devolution of 70,159 crore rupees.
- This is in line with the commitment of the Union government to strengthen the hands of States to accelerate their capital and developmental expenditure, it added. Currently, 41 per cent of taxes collected by the Centre is devolved in 14 instalments among States in a financial year. As per data by the Controller General of Accounts, the Centre has devolved 6.68 lakh crore rupees to States in the current financial year during April-January, up 22.4 per cent from last year.

India beat world champions Germany 3-2 in FIH Pro League in Odisha
- In Hockey, India stunned world champions Germany 3-2 in the FIH Pro League at Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, Odisha yesterday, March 10.
- Indian skipper Harmanpreet Singh had given the home side the lead in the 30th minute through a penalty corner conversion.
- Sukhjeet Singh’s second-half brace helped India to take an unassailable lead. He scored in the 31st and 42nd minutes and both goals came from field efforts. India were 3-0 up in the 42nd minute before Paul-Philipp Kaufmann and Michel Struthoff struck for Germany in the 44th and 57th minutes respectively. Sukhjeet Singh was adjudged player of the match.
