Centre approves National Critical Mineral Mission essential for promoting green technologies

  • The government has approved the National Critical Mineral Mission with an outlay of more than Rs34000 crore rupees. The decision has been taken to build a resilient value chain for critical mineral resources essential for promoting green technologies.
  • Critical mineral technologies are vital for energy transition, agriculture, defence, electronics, telecommunications, transport, aerospace, nuclear and other sectors.
  • The Mission has been approved with the aim of increasing the country’s potential for exploration of critical minerals, acquiring critical mineral blocks and reducing dependence on import of minerals.
  • The government has also approved the price for ethanol procurement from sugarcane feedstock. The sugarcane feedstock includes C-heavy molasses, B-heavy molasses, sugarcane juice, sugar, and sugar syrup.
  • The cabinet approved the price of 57.97 rupees per litre for C-heavy molasses, 60.73 rupees per litre for B-heavy molasses, and 65.61 rupees per litre for sugarcane juice, sugar, and sugar syrup.

ISRO hits century

  • GSLV-F15 is the 17th flight of India’s Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) and 11th flight with Indigenous Cryo stage.It is the 8th operational flight of GSLV with an indigenous Cryogenic stage and 100th Launch from the India’s Spaceport Sriharikota.GSLV-F15 payload fairing is a metallic version with a diameter of 3.4 meters.
  • Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) is India's independent regional navigation satellite system designed to provide accurate Position, Velocity and Timing (PVT) service to users in India as well as to region extending about 1500 km beyond Indian land mass.
  • The GSLV-F15 with indigenous Cryogenic stage will place NVS-02 satellite into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit & the launch will take place from the Second Launch Pad (SLP) at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, SHAR.
  • NavIC will provide two types of services, namely, Standard Positioning Service (SPS) and Restricted Service (RS). NavIC's SPS provides a position accuracy of better than 20 m (2σ) and timing accuracy better than 40 ns (2σ) over the service area.
