Contexualize Politics And Democracy: Prof Afroz Alam

On the occasion of the Constitution Day,a programme was organised by Academic Research Committee of Arts College in collaboration with Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Research Centre, Osmania University Prof.Afroz Alam, Head, Dept. of Political Science, MANUU delivered a talk in which he focused on the emergence of democracy in different countries with statistics.

He outlined how democracy is functioning effectively in India while it was failing in other countries. He reiterated the need to save politics and democracy and it is the responsibility of the citizens to make the governments accountable.

Prof.D.Ravinder, Vice-Chancellor, OU has graced the occasion as chief guest. In his remarks he insisted on the need for the students to readdebate and discuss on any concept to develop in-depth knowledge about contemporary issues. He urged the students to read on constitution anddebate about its implications to the society at large. He also emphasised on use of case study in Politics.

Prof.Konda Nageshwar Rao, Director, Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Research Centre, O.U.narrated the role played by Dr.B.R.Ambedkar in the making of the constitution and in shaping the society and the need to revisit Baba Saheb beyond the confined boundaries.

Prof.Ch.Ganesh, Principal, UCASS, Dr. A. Anupama, Vice-Principal, UCASS, Prof.B.Lavanya, Convenor ARC, Dr.P.Swathi, Dr.C.S.Swathi and other members of ARC, UCASS organised the programme. Heads, Director’s, Faculty Members and Students from several departments attended the lecture.
