Class 10 Board Exams to Be Held Twice a Year from 2026!!

Under this new system, Class 10 and Class 12 board exams will be conducted twice a year. Students will have the flexibility to appear for one or both exams. Those who are not satisfied with their scores in the first attempt will get another opportunity within the same academic year.
New Changes Aligned with NEP 2020
This change aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and aims to reduce exam-related stress while allowing students to achieve their best possible scores.
Class 10 Board Exams – One or Both Attempts Optional
The decision was made during a high-level meeting led by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The meeting included the Secretary of School Education, CBSE Chairperson, senior officials, and representatives from the Ministry of Education and CBSE-affiliated global schools. The primary objective of these changes is to relieve students from excessive exam pressure.
Fixed Gap Between Two Exams
The two board exams will be scheduled with a fixed gap, ensuring that students get enough time for preparation. Minister Pradhan also announced that a draft plan for this reform will be released to the public soon. The initiative aims to create a stress-free environment for students, making exam preparation more manageable.

A Stress-Free Exam Approach for Students
The Ministry of Education emphasized in a tweet that the government is committed to creating a stress-free learning environment for students. The tweet further mentioned that this reform is a key step in implementing the NEP 2020 and will significantly reduce exam-related pressure.
CBSE to Introduce Global Curriculum from 2026-27
Additionally, CBSE plans to introduce a global curriculum for 260 foreign CBSE-affiliated schools starting from the 2026-27 academic year. This curriculum will be designed in alignment with international education standards, making it easier for students to adapt to the revised syllabus.
