Budget 2022-23 Highlights: Digital Rupee to be launched soon!

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the budget in the Lok Sabha.

FM made some key announcements on digital currency -

• She said that digital rupee using blockchain technology will be launched starting 2022/23
• Scheme for taxation of virtual digital assets will be launched
• She said that losses from sale of virtual digital assets cannot be offset against other income
• Income from virtual digital assets to be taxed at 30%, FM said.
