It is aware that CM YS Jagan has brough several reforms in education sector. Now, it is time to make major reforms in the APPSC Group-1 recruitment process. A Group-1 notification was issued in Sep 2022 and the recruitment process has been completed in 9 months.
APPSC member Parige Sudhir also tweeted seeking feedback/opinion/inputs from aspirants/candidates.

He also tweeted that the 1st meeting regarding reforms in Scheme and Syllabus of Group I was held on Sep 14. The tweet read that the preliminary discussion ended with exploring the scope of combining questions of both the objective and subjective type in the Mains Examination. This Committee is set to meet again twice by next week and will be concluding with a report.

AP Govt. has also approved recruitment in 240 Group-1 and 508 Group-2 services. Soon, APPSC will issue a recruitment notification for these services. Meanwhile, APPSC is planning to make major changes in APPSC Group-1 recruitment process.
Expected Changes in APPSC Group-1 Prelims:
Previously, there were two separate papers in Group-1 prelims, each carrying 120 marks. The revised format entails a single paper with a total of 150 marks.

Expected Changes in APPSC Group-1 Mains:
- There are considerations for conducting the mains examination in both objective and descriptive modes.
- There is a possibility of introducing a dedicated paper focusing on topics pertaining exclusively to the state of Andhra Pradesh, encompassing areas such as AP Economy and Development, AP Geography, and AP History & Culture.
- Descriptive questions will be included in subjects where analytical knowledge assessment is crucial, while other subjects may be administered in an objective format.
APPSC Group-1 Mains Evaluation Process:
- The evaluation process is expected to become more rigorous and stringent.
- Professors with expertise in the relevant subjects will be engaged to evaluate the mains answer sheets.
- Addressing a shortage of Assistant Professors that persisted for the past 12 years, the government under YS Jagan's leadership is planning to address this shortfall as well.
