The delay in this year's counseling stemmed from a legal battle regarding Government Order (GO) 33 concerning local student status. While the government appealed the court's decision regarding GO 33 to the Supreme Court, it agreed to allow eligible petitioners to participate in counseling this year under a one-time exemption.

Court Allows Counseling with Interim Order:

The court accepted the government's arguments, allowing counseling to proceed under the existing GO 33 provisions while deferring the final verdict for three weeks. This resulted in the inclusion of 132 petitioners who had challenged GO 33 in the provisional merit list. However, 9 applicants were disqualified due to having dual local status in Andhra Pradesh, as determined by KNRUHS.
