The committee, led by former ISRO Chief R. Radhakrishnan, will soon submit its recommendations to the Supreme Court. Key suggestions include reducing the outsourcing of exam staff and centers, increasing online exams, and capping the number of attempts for major entrance exams like NEET UG.
Proposed Changes for NEET UG 2025
A seven-member expert committee comprising education and technical experts, led by former ISRO chief K. Radhakrishnan, was formed to assess the NTA’s role in conducting NEET UG and suggest ways to prevent paper leaks and cheating. Other committee members include Randeep Guleria, B. J. Rao, Ramamurthy K., Pankaj Bansal, Aditya Mittal, and Govind Jaiswal. The committee has proposed the following key reforms:

Online and Hybrid Testing Models
- Emphasis on conducting online exams wherever feasible.
- In cases where fully online exams are not possible, a hybrid model is proposed, where exam papers are sent digitally, and students write answers on paper.

- A two-stage NEET UG exam, similar to the JEE format, to improve applicant management and evaluation.

Streamlining CUET Subject Choices
- Reduction in redundant subject options for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) to avoid overlaps with board exam subjects.

- Hiring more permanent staff for better exam organization and management, replacing the current dependence on temporary workers.

- Greater control over exam centers to reduce reliance on outsourced centers and ensure better security of exam data.

- Digital transmission of question papers and last-minute release to enhance security and prevent leaks.
