Harvard Makes Tuition Free for Families Earning Under $200K!!

Who Qualifies for Harvard's Free Tuition Policy?
Harvard’s revised financial aid policy offers significant benefits for families at various income levels:
-
Families Earning $100,000 or Less:
- Full coverage of tuition, housing, food, and fees.
- A $2,000 start-up grant in the first year.
- A $2,000 launch grant in the junior year.
-
Families Earning Between $100,000 and $200,000:
- Tuition is fully covered.
- Additional aid for housing and other costs is determined based on financial need.
-
Families Earning Above $200,000:
- Financial aid may still be available, but it is not guaranteed.
This policy is applicable only for U.S. citizens and permanent residents, meaning Indian families or international students do not qualify for this tuition-free program.
Why is Harvard Offering Free Tuition?
Harvard President Alan M. Garber emphasized that this decision is a long-term investment in educational accessibility.
"We want the most talented students to attend Harvard, regardless of their financial background. By removing tuition costs for most American families, we ensure that education remains a right, not a privilege."
This initiative aligns with similar steps taken by Princeton University and Stanford University, both of which have recently expanded financial aid to support middle-income families.
For international students, Harvard’s financial aid remains generous but does not extend to the new $200K threshold for free tuition.
