SSC 24,369 Constable Jobs: Check Subject-wise Preparation Guidance!

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released a notification for the recruitment of 24,369 constable posts in the Central Armed Forces and other security departments. 10th class qualified students can apply for these jobs. Check subject-wise preparation tips here.
SSC Constable Posts 2022

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will fill 24,369 posts in all eight forces including the Central Armed Forces. Border Security Force-10,947; Central Industrial Security Force-100; Central Reserve Police Force-8,911; Sashastra Seemabal-1,284; Indo-Tibetan Border Police-1,613; Assam Rifles (Riflemen)-1,697; Secretariat Security Force-103; Narcotics Control Bureau (SPI)-164; Of the total posts, 2,790 jobs are reserved for women. Assam Rifles Division in the post of Rifleman, Narcotics Control Bureau has announced the vacancies in the name of Sepoy.

Must have passed 10th Class by January 1, 2023.
Age: Should be between 18-23 years as on 1st January 2023. Five years relaxation for SC and ST categories and three years relaxation for OBC candidates.

SSC GD Constables 2022: Selection process

The selection for SSC Constable (General Duty) is a three-step process. They are Written test; Physical Efficiency Test; Physical Standard Test. After these three stages medical examination and review medical examination are also conducted.

Written test
As part of the selection process, written test will be conducted first in computer based mode. The exam will be conducted in either English or Hindi mediums only.

Physical efficiency test
Based on the talent shown in the written test and the marks obtained, the physical efficiency test will be conducted in the second phase. To be eligible for this test, one must score minimum qualifying marks in written test - General category candidates 30 percent marks; OBC/EWS category candidates should get 25% marks and other reserved category candidates should get 20% marks.
Male candidates will have to cover five kilometers in 24 minutes and female candidates will have to cover 1.6 kilometers in eight and a half minutes.

Physical Standard Test

  • Physical Standard Test is the next step for those who have qualified in Physical Efficiency Test.
  • Height of male candidates should be 170 cm and female candidates should be 157 cm.
  • Minimum chest measurement for male candidates is 80 cms.. It should expand by five cms while breathing.

The final candidates will be declared by taking into account the talent shown by the candidates, the marks obtained and other reservation rules in all the processes like written test, physical efficiency test, physical standard test, medical tests. Similarly, all the four stages should be passed with minimum marks.

Preparation Tips for SSC GD Constable Exams 2022

General Intelligence and Reasoning
In order to excel in this, one should master both verbal and non-verbal reasoning. Space Visualization, Similarities and Differences, Analogies, Problem Solving Analysis, Visual Memory, Observation, Classifications, Number Series, Coding-Decoding, Number Analogy, Figural Analogy, Word Building, Venn Diagrams etc.

General Knowledge and General Awareness
This is a section where questions are asked to test the social awareness of the candidates. If you want to excel in this, you should focus on topics like Indian history, geography, economy, polity, constitution and scientific research. Similarly, awareness should be raised about the contemporary developments which are gaining importance in recent times.

Elementary Mathematics
If you want to excel in this section, you should focus on pure maths as well as semi-maths. Decimals, fractions, numbers, percentages, ratios, proportions, square roots, averages, profit and loss, algebra, linear equations, triangles, circles, tangents, trigonometry should be mastered.

English language
Candidates can choose the language of their interest for English/Hindi subject. Majority of people are choosing English. In order to excel in this section, you need to understand basic grammar. Similarly Antonyms, Synonyms, Miss-spelt Words, Idioms, Phrases, Active / Passive Voice, Direct and Indirect Speech, One Word Substitutions, Passage Comprehension should be practiced.

Integration with other exam preparation
Candidates who are already preparing for many police constable and SI competitive exams can appear for the SSC constable examination with that preparation. The topics in the syllabus are almost the same.
