The Indian Army has opened online applications for the 66th Short Service Commission (SSC) Technical Entry for both men and women.

The course is scheduled to begin in April 2026 at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai. The registration window is open from July 16 to August 14, 2025, on the official website of the Indian Army.
Total Vacancies:
SSC (Tech) Men: Approx. 350 posts
SSCW (Tech) Women: Approx. 29 posts
Special posts are also available for widows of defence personnel.
Who Can Apply?
BE/BTech graduates in relevant engineering streams
Final-year engineering students can also apply, but must complete their degree by April 1, 2026, and submit proof within 12 weeks after training begins
Age Limit: Must be between 20 to 27 years as on April 1, 2026
Citizenship: Only Indian citizens are eligible
Selection Process:
There is no written exam.
Candidates will be shortlisted based on academic performance, followed by a Services Selection Board (SSB) interview. The SSB interview includes:
Stage 1: OIR (Officer Intelligence Rating) Test and PPDT (Picture Perception and Discussion Test)
Stage 2: Psychological Test, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Personal Interview
Final candidates must clear a medical fitness test
Training & Commission:
Selected candidates will undergo military training at OTA, Chennai. After successful completion, they will be granted Short Service Commission as Technical Officers in the Indian Army.
