NEET UG 2025 MBBS Cutoff Likely to Drop: Check Details

The announcement of NEET UG 2025 results for admissions into MBBS and BDS courses for the 2025–26 academic year has triggered widespread discussion. With lower marks still securing higher national ranks this year, students and parents are anxious to know how the MBBS cutoff marks will shape up in 2025.

From Andhra Pradesh alone, 57,934 students appeared, and 36,776 qualified for NEET UG 2025. Experts believe that due to the difficult paper and a significant drop in high scorers, cutoff marks for MBBS admissions may drop by over 100 marks compared to the previous year.

What’s Different in NEET UG 2025 Results?

  • Nationally, fewer students scored above 600 compared to NEET 2024
  • This year’s top score is 686, compared to last year’s 720
  • Score-wise breakup:
    • 651–686: 73 students
    • 601–650: 1,259 students
    • 551–600: 10,658 students
    • 400–500: Majority of qualified candidates

Because of this score distribution, NEET MBBS cutoffs 2025 are expected to significantly decrease.

No Increase in MBBS Seats for 2025–26

  • The state government has clarified that no new medical colleges will be added this year.
  • Hence, admissions for the 2025–26 academic year will be made within the existing 6,510 MBBS seats across Andhra Pradesh.

  • Total Medical Colleges: 36 (18 Government + 18 Private)
  • Total MBBS Seats: 6,510
    • All India Quota (AIQ): 475 seats
    • State Convenor Quota: 4,046 seats
    • Management Quota (B & C): 1,989 seats

BDS Seats

  • Total BDS Seats: 1,540

    • AIQ: 21 seats
    • Convenor Quota: 818 seats
    • Management Quota: 700 seats

Status of NEET Qualified Student Data in AP

  • NTA has not yet shared the official data of qualified students with the Dr. YSR University of Health Sciences.
  • Once NTA invites the state authority, university representatives will collect the NEET qualified list from New Delhi.
  • This process is expected to take around one week.

Due to tougher paper, fewer high scores, and no increase in seats, NEET MBBS 2025 cutoffs are expected to drop sharply. Students scoring in the 500–550 range may still have a strong chance at securing MBBS seats through state quota, depending on their reservation category and region.
