NEET 2025 Counselling Begins: All India & State Quota

The NEET UG 2025 counselling process began on July 16 with registration and has now moved into the first round of seat allotment. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is handling All India Quota (AIQ), Deemed and Central Universities. The first phase of state counselling will begin on July 30 and continue till August 6, followed by two more rounds. The entire counselling process will end by September 18, 2025.

How High NEET Ranks Still Got MBBS Seats in 2024

According to data from NEET 2024 counselling, students with surprisingly high NEET ranks (lower marks) secured MBBS seats under various reserved categories:

  • In BC-A category, an NEET AIR of 3,36,989 received an MBBS seat under convenor quota.
  • A general category candidate with AIR 2,12,000 also secured admission.
  • A BC-A female student with an AIR of 3,31,000 received a seat.

Education experts predict that this year too, students with ranks beyond 3 lakh in BC, SC, and ST categories, and even those with state ranks above 10,000, may still get MBBS seats through state counselling in Telangana.

Total MBBS Seats in Telangana – 2025 Overview

Telangana offers a total of 8,915 MBBS seats across government and private colleges:

  • 34 Government Medical Colleges – 4,090 seats

    • 15% (613 seats) go to All India Quota
    • Remaining 3,477 seats for Telangana state quota
  • 25 Private Medical Colleges – 4,200 seats

    • 50% (2,100 seats) under convenor quota

  • 2 Colleges under Malla Reddy Deemed University – 400 seats (100% management quota)
  • ESI Medical College – 150 seats (All India Quota)
  • AIIMS Bibinagar – 100 seats (All India Quota)

After deducting AIQ and management quota seats, only 5,577 MBBS seats are available under Telangana State Convenor Quota.

NEET 2025 Cutoff Likely to Drop

This year, NEET 2025 was considered tougher by students and coaching experts. The top score in All India was only 686 marks, and in Telangana, the highest scorer had 670 marks. This dip in overall scores may push cutoff ranks higher, making it possible for students with relatively lower NEET scores to still gain MBBS admission.
