4,500 faculty posts vacant in IITs

The Center has revealed that 4,596 faculty posts are vacant in the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) of the country.

The centre said that there are 4,500 faculty posts vacant in IITs.

Union Minister of State for Education Subhash Sarkar said in a written statement to the Rajya Sabha that there are 798 vacancies in IIT Kharagpur and 517 in IIT Bombay. It is said that 482 faculty posts are vacant in the top ranked IIT Madras. He said that the filling of the respective posts is a continuous process and for this IITs are issuing advertisements from time to time.
