JEE Main 2025 Exam: Day 1, Shift 1 Subject Wise Analysis

For the first phase of the JEE Main examination, a total of 13.8 lakh candidates applied nationwide. Among these, approximately 2 lakh students are estimated to be from the Telugu-speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The exams will also continue to be held in two sessions on the following dates: January 23, 24, 28, 29, and 30, 2025.
JEE Main 2025 Day 1, Shift 1 Exam Analysis
The JEE Main 2025 exam was conducted for 300 marks across three subjects: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Each subject had 25 questions, making a total of 75 questions, with each question carrying 4 marks. According to subject experts, the overall difficulty level of the exam was moderate, and students who thoroughly practiced NCERT textbooks and previous question papers had a slight advantage.

Time Management Issues:
Physics and Chemistry allowed students to answer their questions in 45 minutes per section, leaving them with time for Mathematics. However, due to the lengthy nature of Mathematics questions, many students could only attempt 15 to 20 questions within the remaining one and a half hours. Experts noted that the length of the questions was the primary reason for this time constraint.
Subject-wise Analysis:
Overall, the paper was well-balanced, with Physics and Chemistry being relatively easier, while Mathematics posed a challenge due to its length and complexity.
- Many questions of chemistry are directly from NCERT Books
- Many questions are from previous year JEE MAINS question papers mostly from 2021and 2022 PAPERS
- Physics: The questions were well-distributed across key topics such as thermal physics, projectile motion, electrical circuits, diodes, electromagnetic waves, and modern physics.
- Mathematics: Although the questions were straightforward, many students found the section time-consuming due to its length.
- Chemistry: The section was easy, with a good mix of organic and physical chemistry topics, making it a scoring subject for many.
Expected Scores:
A significant number of students are confident about scoring above 200 marks, reflecting the balanced nature of the paper. The paper's moderate difficulty and the familiar pattern have left students hopeful of achieving competitive scores.
