• The Indian Institute of Technology Madras Research Park in association with the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) hosted the “OCEANS 2022 conference”.
• OCEANS conference is a bi-annual event of global marine researchers.
• It was hosted in India, for the first time.
• Department of Ocean Engineering of is coordinating the OCEANS 2022 conference, on behalf of Marine Technology Society and Institution of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (IEEE) Ocean Engineering Society.
• The OCEANS 2022 conference was held in hybrid mode. It had 400 presentations by delegates on topics like climate change, global warming, marine pollution, micro-plastics, vagaries of weather and combating coastal erosion. It was a four-day event that started on February 21, 2022.
