Light combat helicopter introduced in IAF base at Jodhpur

- At a ceremony conducted at Air Force Station, Jodhpur in Rajasthan, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh officially admitted the locally produced Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) into the Indian Air Force (IAF). LCH would join the 143 Helicopter Unit after being inducted. Prachanda is the name given to Light Combat Helicopters (LCH).
- LCH has a 550 km range and 6500 m operating ceiling. It is equipped with 20 mm cannon, 70 mm rockets, and air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles.
- The flight crew’s helmet-mounted display, an electronic warfare suite, and a complete glass cockpit are among its many features.
- Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) is capable of a variety of tasks, including as combat search and rescue, neutralising enemy air defence, and conducting counterinsurgency operations in both urban and forest settings.
- In March of this year, the Cabinet Committee on Security gave its approval for the procurement of 15 indigenous Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) helicopters.
