Established in 1899, KSO boasts one of the world's longest continuous daily records of the Sun. This invaluable data is now digitized and accessible to astronomers globally.
The observatory is a testament to scientific dedication spanning over a century. Prof. Annapurni Subramaniam, Director of IIA, highlighted the continuous innovation needed to adapt to evolving technology and train new generations of scientists.
Prof. Siraj Hasan, a former director and solar physicist, recalled the landmark discovery of the Evershed Effect at KSO in 1909.

The anniversary celebration unveiled the KSO 125 logo and a booklet chronicling the observatory's history and research breakthroughs. The Kodaikanal Solar Observatory remains a vital center for solar research, contributing significantly to India's position in the field of astronomy.
