Jal Jeevan Mission: Drinking water supply schemes to benefit 140 villages in Uttarakhand

Drinking water supply schemes of over 164 crore rupees has been approved under Jal Jeevan Mission in Uttarakhand. It will provide tap water connection to more than nine thousand 200 rural homes. Jal Shakti Ministry said, these schemes will benefit 140 villages in Almora, Bageshwar, Dehradun, Nainital and Uttarkashi districts.
In the current financial year, the State has planned to provide tap water connections to two lakh 64 thousand households. The State government is aiming to provide clean tap water supply to all rural homes by December next year.
Jal Jeevan Mission was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15th August, 2019, with the aim to provide assured tap water supply to every rural home by 2024.
