Airports Authority of India to spend around Rs. 25000 Cr in next 5-years

Airports Authority of India (AAI) to spend around Rs. 25,000cr in the next five years. The money will be spent for the expansion and modification of existing terminals, building of new terminals, strengthening of existing runways, Airport Navigation Services, control towers. Rs. 36,000crore rupees have been planned for investment in the development of new Greenfield airports across the country under Public Private Partnership mode.

Three PPP airports at Delhi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru have undertaken major expansion plan to the tune of Rs.30,000 cr. The Government has accorded approval for setting up of 21 Greenfield Airports across the country.

Eight Greenfield airports at Shirdi in Maharashtra, Durgapur in West Bengal, Pakyong in Sikkim, Kannur in Kerala, Orvakal in Andhra Pradesh, Kalaburagi in Karnataka, Sindhudurg in Maharashtra and Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh have been operationalized so far.
