  • World Coconut Day, established in 2009 by the Asian and Pacific Coconut Community (APCC), commemorates the founding of the organization on September 2, 1969. The APCC, an intergovernmental body under the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, represents 19 coconut-producing countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

  • The Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council (THSC), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Visa, a global leader in digital payments. This three-year partnership, valued at up to $1 million USD, aims to enhance skills in the tourism and hospitality sector.

  • At the Paris Paralympics 2024, Indian para-athlete Preethi Pal added another medal to India’s tally by winning a bronze in the Women’s 200 meters – T35 Final with a personal best time of 30.01 seconds. This achievement makes her the first Indian woman para-athlete in track and field to win two medals at the Paralympics.
  • Hockey India has announced that the Hockey Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024 will be hosted in Rajgir from November 11 to 20. The tournament will be held at the newly built Rajgir Hockey Stadium, where India will defend their title against teams from China, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, and Korea.
