Ayodhya Ram Mandir sets record of holding 15 lakhs divas for Diwali 2022

India’s first ‘Migration Monitoring System’ inaugurated in Mumbai
- India’s first ‘Migration Monitoring Systems’ was inaugurated by the Maharashtra Women and Children Development Minister MangalprabhatLodha in Mumbai. The website-based Migration Tracking System will track the movement of vulnerable seasonal migrant beneficiaries. The Migration Monitoring Systems aims to provide information about migrant pregnant women, lactating women, and children.
- The system provides updated information about migrant pregnant women, lactating women, and children in a single system.
- Maharashtra Women and Children Development Minister MangalprabhatLodha launched the ‘Migration Monitoring Systems’
- The state department has created website-based Migration Tracking System (MTS) to track the movements of vulnerable seasonal migrant beneficiaries through individual unique identification numbers.

Quality Council of India appoints Jaxay Shah as new chairman
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appointed Jaxay Shah, founder chairman of Savvy Group and former chairman of CREDAI as the chairman of the Quality Council of India (QCI) for three years, effective 21 October, the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
- He will succeed former McKinsey India chief Adil Zainulbhai, who served as the chairman of QCI through three terms for eight years from 2014 to 2022.
- QCI was established in 1997 through a Cabinet note by the Government of India. QCI is mandated to promote quality in the country through national accreditation of testing, inspection and certification bodies which is internationally recognised, driving third-party assessments across sectors.
India to Beat US, Europe in Terms of Learners: Coursera chief
- India is anticipated to surpass its residence market, the United States, and even Europe in terms of learners over the subsequent 18-20 months, edtech agency Coursera’s chief JeffMaggioncalda said. The firm, which has 17 million learners and content material partnerships with 15 universities in India, is anticipated to overtake the United States and Europe. It has 20 million learners in America and 19 million in Europe.

India, France Re-Elected as President and Co-President of International Solar Alliance
- In the third assembly of ISA, Union Power and New and Renewable Energy Minister R K Singh has been re-elected as the President of International Solar Alliance. France Minister of State for Development ChrysoulaZacharopoulou has been re-elected as Co-President.
- The Third Assembly of the International Solar Alliance has been attended by 34 ISA Members ministers. 53 Member countries and 5 Signatory and Prospective Member countries participated to the Assembly.
- India and France were re-elected as the President and Co- President of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) for a term of two years at the virtual meeting of the Third Assembly held on 14 October. Four new Vice-Presidents were also chosen to represent the four regions of ISA. The representatives of Fiji & Nauru for Asia Pacific Region; Mauritius & Niger for Africa Region; UK & Netherlands for Europe and others Region, and Cuba and Guyana for Latin America and Caribbean Region assumed the vice presidency.
Liz Truss to resign as PM of UK, Indian-origin Suella Braverman also quits
- Liz Truss, the British prime minister will step down from her position after only six weeks in office due to an economic plan that angered many members of her own party and rattled financial markets. Suella Braverman, Indian origin British interior minister, also resigned making her the second senior cabinet official to do so in the past week after finance minister Kwasi Kwarteng.
- Suella Braverman said that she left the Liz Truss administration due to a “technical” violation of government regulations and expressed her reservations about the government’s course while also criticising the premier. Grant Shapps, the country’s new interior minister, has taken Suella Braverman’s seat.
Pakistan Removed from FATF Grey List on Terror Financing
- Pakistan has been removed from the grey list of the Financial Action Task Force(FATF), the Paris-based global watchdog on money laundering and terrorist financing. Pakistan was placed in the grey list in 2018 for failing to keep a check on money laundering and terrorist financing.
- esides Pakistan, Nicaragua was removed from the FATF’s ‘grey list’ while Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania and Mozambique were added to the list. Myanmar was added to the FATF’s ‘black list’.
FATF Blacklists Myanmar, Calls for Due Diligence To Transactions in Nation
- Money laundering and terrorist financing watchdog Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has put Myanmar on the “black list” and has called on members to apply enhanced due diligence to business relations and transactions in Myanmar
- In June 2022, the FATF strongly urged Myanmar to swiftly complete its action plan by October 2022 or the FATF would call on its members and urge all jurisdictions to apply enhanced due diligence to business relations and transactions with Myanmar. FATF said that given the continued lack of progress and the majority of its action items still not addressed after a year beyond the action plan deadline, the FATF decided that further action was necessary in-line with its procedures. FATF called on its members and other jurisdictions to apply enhanced due diligence measures proportionate to the risk arising from Myanmar.

Anna May Wong set to become first Asian American to feature on US currency
- Anna May Wong was born with the name Wong Liu-Tsong. Wong began her film career at the age of 14 as an extra in The Red Lantern. Anna May Wong was born in Los Angeles to second-generation Chinese immigrants (1919).
- Anna May Wong, only three years later, in one of the earliest Technicolor movies, The Toll of the Sea (1922), in which she starred, received critical praise.
- Anna May Wong was also The Gallery of Madame Liu-first Tsong’s Asian American lead actor on television (1951).
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
Heaviest rocket of ISRO, LVM3 successfully places 36 satellites in orbit
- OneWeb’s 36 satellites were successfully orbited by the biggest rocket ever launched by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), the Launch Vehicle Mark 3 (LVM3 or GSLV Mark 3), which lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, Sriharikota. With this 14th launch, OneWeb will have 462 satellites in its constellation.
- This launch represents more than 70% of the 648 Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites that are expected to be deployed globally to provide high-speed, low-latency connectivity.
- 36 satellites totaling 5,796 kg, or approximately 5.7 tonne, were carried by the 43.5-meter LVM3, which was around 644 tonnes in weight.
- LVM3 has entered the market for international commercial launch services with this launch.
- The LVM3-M2 dedicated commercial satellite mission is being carried out by NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) that is part of the Indian government’s Department of Space.
- This mission is being carried out as part of the business agreement between NSIL and the U.K.-based Network Access Associates Limited (m/s OneWeb Ltd).
- OneWeb is a partnership between the British government and Bharti Enterprises of India.
Chandrayaan-3 set for launch in August 2023: ISRO chairman
- The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) plans to launch its third lunar mission in the month of June 2023. The more capable lunar rover that will be carried by Chandrayaan-3, which is essential for future interplanetary explorations, according to S. Somnath, Chairman of the Indian Space Agency, ISRO.
- According to S Somnath, the Geosynchronous Launch Vehicle Mark-III (GSLV Mk-III) will launch Chandrayaan-3 (C-3) in June of next year.
- ISRO is also working on the Gaganyaan mission, and the first abort test is scheduled for the new year.
- The mission will rely on the Chandrayaan-2 orbiter, which is already circling the Moon; the Chandrayaan-3 rover is not a clone of its predecessor, according to the head of ISRO. “C-3 is now prepared.
- It’s not an exact copy of the C-2. There is the rover. Engineering has undergone a huge change. We have strengthened it so that it won’t experience issues like it did previously as per Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) chairman.
Indian, US Militaries Conduct ‘Tiger Triumph’ Exercise
- The Indian and US militaries carried out a three-day joint humanitarian assistance exercise in Vishakhapatnam in line with the growing strategic cooperation between the two countries. The Tiger Triumph exercise was the second collaboration between the Indian and US Militaries to coordinate disaster relief in the region.
- The first exercise took place over the course of nine days in November 2019 and featured more than 500 US Marines and sailors.
- The first exercise included 1200 Indian sailors, soldiers, and Airmen.
- This year, the military exercise involved fifty combined participants, and it focused on staff planning, with an emphasis on processes for streamlining diplomatic, operational, and logistical coordination.
- Tiger Triumph marked the third time in 2022 that Indian and US militaries have worked together in Vishakhapatnam.
- The US joined India and more than thirty other nations for India’s bi-annual exercise Milan in February.
- In August, the USS Frank Cable visited Visakhapatnam, during which US sailors joined Indian counterparts for briefing.
Nuclear capable Agni Prime missile successfully tested by India
- The Agni Prime New Generation Ballistic Missile was successfully tested by India on October 21 off the coast of Odisha. Around 9.45 this morning, a test launch of the ballistic missile took place. The missile successfully completed the test, covering its full range, and all of its test goals were achieved.
- The Agni Prime, also known as “Agni-P,” is a two-stage canisterized missile from the Agni class that is nuclear-capable and has a maximum range of 2,000 kilometres.
- The Agni Prime missile has updated guidance and propulsion technologies and weighs 50% less than the Agni 3 missile.
- Because it is canisterized, it may be stored for longer periods of time, launched from a train or a road, and transported in accordance with operational needs.
- The “Agni Prime” test’s success highlights India’s efforts to have a self-sufficient defence industry.
APPOINTMENTS
UNHRC: Ashwini K.P. becomes 1st Indian to be appointed Independent Expert on racism
- The United Nations Human Rights Council appointed the first Asian and first Indian as an independent experts on racism and related intolerance. Dr Ashwini’s appointment has been officially made at the UNHRC’s session which concluded in Geneva on October 7.
- Three names, including that of Ashwini, were doing rounds for the post. Dr Ashwini will take over the UNHCR special rapporteur in Geneva on November 1 for a period of six years. She is the first Asian as well as the first Indian to be appointed for the post.
- The UNHRC president then nominated her to the Council, which officially appointed her just before the conclusion of its 51st session. Ashwini’s three-year term will begin on November 1.
- Ashwini will be the sixth SR to hold this mandate. All her predecessors have been from Africa.

IND vs PAK T20 World Cup 2022
- India won by 4 wickets against Pakistan. India won the toss and opted to bowl first. Pakistan openers were Rizwan and Babar Azam. Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed scored the highest runs from Pakistan, 52(42) and 41(34) respectively.
- Arshdeep and Hardik Pandya shined their way through in the IND vs PAK T20 World Cup 2022. Both of them took 3 wickets each against Pakistan. Pakistan made 159 runs in 20 overs by losing 8 wickets.
