Draft Notification issued for Registration and Functions of Vehicle Scrapping Facility

India Road Transport and Highways Ministry has issued draft notification related to Motor Vehicles Registration and Functions of Vehicle Scrapping Facility Amendment Rules 2022. These amendments lay down the procedure for establishment of Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility.

The notification states that registered vehicle owners shall apply digitally for vehicle scrapping. Road Transport and Highways Ministry said, all applications for vehicle scrapping shall be submitted digitally and Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility will act as facilitation centres to help vehicle owners.

President Zelenskyy vows to continue negotiating with Russia

Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said he will continue negotiating with Russia and is waiting for a meeting with Vladimir Putin.

His delegation has a clear task to do everything to ensure a meeting between the two presidents. Talks are held daily between the two countries via video conference. The President said the talks are necessary to establish a cease-fire and more humanitarian corridors. He said those corridors have saved more than 130,000 people in six days.

Iran decides to temporarily suspend its talks with Saudi Arabia

Iran has decided to temporarily suspend its talks aimed at defusing years-long tensions with Saudi Arabia.
This comes a day after Saudi Arabia carried out the largest known mass execution in its modern history.
The Iranian media reported the government had unilaterally paused the talks with Saudi Arabia that have been ongoing in Baghdad over the past year aimed at restoring diplomatic ties.
Iraq’s foreign minister earlier had said the fifth round of talks between Saudi and Iranian representatives was due to resume on Wednesday.
Saudi Arabia yesterday executed 81 people convicted of crimes ranging from killings to belonging to militant groups.
The number of executed surpassed even the toll of a January 1980 mass execution for the 63 militants convicted of seizing the Grand Mosque in Mecca in 1979, the worst-ever militant attack to target the kingdom and Islam’s holiest site.

Six Indian boxers clinch gold medal at ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships

In Boxing, six Indian Junior boxers, led by Vini, Yakshika and Vidhi registered contrasting wins to claim the gold medal at the 2022 ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Amman, Jordan today.
Vini, the diminutive boxer from Hisar was facing Karina Tokubay of Kazakhstan in the flyweight 50kg final. Vini was scoring consistently and moving around the ring enroute securing a 5-0 verdict in her favour.
Yakshika (52kg) displayed remarkable courage and temperament against Uzbekistan’s Rakhima Bekniyazova to mount a comeback. She continued her aggressive approach in the last round to complete the comeback and win 4-1.
Vidhi notched up a comfortable 5-0 win against Aya Suwindeh of Jordan in the 57kg featherweight final.
Defending Champion Nikita Chand (60kg) grabbed the yellow metal again as she dominated her bout against Uldana Taubay of Kazakhstan from the beginning which forced the referee to stop the contest in the third round.
Shrushti Sathe (63kg) was up against Nursulu Suienaly of Kazakhstan who had no answer for the Indian boxer’s reflexes and strong punches.
Rudrika (75kg) blanked Kazakhstan’s Shuglya Nalibay 5-0 in a one-sided contest.

PNC Infratech Ltd awarded for construction of Longest Length of Flexible Pavement road in 100 hours

India Book of Records has awarded certificates in respect of creation of a record for Highest Quantity of Bituminous Mix laid for road construction in 100 hours.
In a series of tweets Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari informed that longest Length of Flexible Pavement road construction in 100 hours was awarded to PNC Infratech Ltd.
This incredible feat was achieved by PNC Infratech Ltd at the Construction of 8-Lane access-controlled expressway starting from a junction with National Highway -47 near Bhamiya village and ending at a junction with State Highway -175 in Baletiya village in Panchmahal district of Gujarat.

India's digital economy to see exponential growth to 800 billion dollars by 2030

India's digital economy is expected to witness exponential growth to 800 billion dollars by 2030 on the back of rising internet penetration and increasing income.
FM Nirmala Sitharaman said India has over 6,300 fintechs, of which 28% are into investment technology, 27% into payments, 16% into lending, and 9% into banking infrastructure, while over 20% are into other fields.
The combined valuation of India's fintech industry is set to surge to 150 billion dollars in the next three years.
Majority of the startup unicorns are from the fintech sector and that the easy availability of funding has helped them grow.

RBI bars Paytm Payments Bank from opening new accounts with immediate effect

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has barred Paytm Payments Bank from opening new accounts with immediate effect.
RBI has also directed Paytm Payments Bank to appoint an IT audit firm to conduct a comprehensive audit of its IT system.
The onboarding of new customers will be subject to specific permission to be granted by it after reviewing the report of the IT auditors. This action is based on certain material supervisory concerns observed in the bank, RBI said.
Paytm Payments Bank was incorporated in August 2016 and formally began its operations in May 2017.
