AFMS & IIT Delhi ink MoU for collaborative research & training
- Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaborative research and training with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi on 22 April 2024. The MoU was signed by Director General Armed Forces Medical Services Lt Gen Daljit Singh and Director IIT Delhi Prof Rangan Banerjee. The scope of this MoU includes undertaking research and innovation to develop novel medical devices and focus on solving health issues specific to serving soldiers in varied terrains.
- IIT Delhi has a robust biomedical research ecosystem which is ideal for providing the technical expertise required for research into the diverse medical challenges faced in the Armed Forces, including rehabilitation of amputees. Under the ambit of this MoU, faculty exchange program, joint academic activities and development of joint PhD programmes will also be planned.
- On this occasion, DGAFMS Lt Gen Daljit Singh informed that AFMS is dedicated to provide highest level of medical care to soldiers and collaboration with institutes of national importance like IIT is a significant step towards this commitment. Director IIT Delhi Prof Rangan Banerjee commented that this MoU is full of possibilities for research and training beneficial to the nation and the Armed Forces.
DARPG signs MOU with Ministry of Civil Service, Cambodia
- Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) under Ministry of Personnel, Public Administration and Pensions signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ministry of Civil Service, Cambodia on cooperation in the field of Human Resource Development in Civil Service. The MoU advances the cordial and friendly ties between India and Cambodia in the field of Human Resource Development in Civil Service over the next 05 years.
- The MoU will focus on strengthening and promoting bilateral exchange and cooperation between the two countries in the field of Human Resource Development in Civil Service as also facilitate a dialogue between India’s Personnel Administration agencies and the agencies of the Ministry of Civil Service of the Kingdom of Cambodia. This will be achieved through exchange visits focused on administrative reforms, good governance webinars, research publications, institutional exchanges, capacity building programs and replication of good governance practices.
- The Government’s policy maxim is “Maximum Governance – Minimum Government” which envisages a “Digitally Empowered Citizen and a Digitally Transformed Institution”.

Nepal Hosts Inaugural Rainbow Tourism Conference

India-Kuwait Relations Strengthened with Inaugural Hindi Radio Broadcast
- The Indian Embassy in Kuwait announced the launch of the first-ever Hindi radio broadcast in Kuwait, a significant step to deepen ties between the two nations. Initiated by Kuwait’s Ministry of Information, the program will air every Sunday on FM 93.3 and AM 96.3, highlighting the bond between India and Kuwait.
- The Indian Embassy in Kuwait commended Kuwait’s Ministry of Information for introducing a Hindi program on Kuwait Radio, enhancing cultural exchange and fostering closer relations between India and Kuwait.
- India and Kuwait share robust trade ties, dating back to the Indian rupee’s status as Kuwait’s official currency until 1961. The 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2021-22 underscored the enduring friendship between the two nations.

Ratan Tata Receives Prestigious KISS Humanitarian Award 2021
- Renowned industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group, was honored with the esteemed KISS Humanitarian Award 2021 at a ceremony held at his Mumbai residence.
- The award, initiated in 2008 by Achyuta Samanta, recognizes individuals and organizations epitomizing humanitarian efforts globally.
Mohammed Salem’s Award-Winning Photograph at World Press Photo 2024
- Mohammed Salem is a Palestinian photographer who works for the news agency Reuters. In 2024, he won a very important award called the World Press Photo of the Year award.
- Salem won for his extremely powerful photograph taken in Gaza on October 17, 2023.
- The photo shows a Palestinian woman named Inas Abu Maamar, 36 years old, holding the dead body of her 5-year-old niece Saly.
- Inas is crying and hugging Saly’s body which is wrapped in a white sheet. The photo was taken in a hospital morgue in Gaza after Israeli bombing.
