- G Satheesh Reddy was awarded the honorary fellowship by RAeS
G Satheesh Reddy, the Chairman of Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), was awarded the Honorary Fellowship.
The award was presented by the Royal Aeronautical Society of the United Kingdom. The award recognized his contributions towards development and indigenous design, deployment of aerospace vehicles, diversified missile systems, guided weapons and avionics technologies in India. The award is very special as Reddy is the first Indian recipient of the prestigious award in over 100 years.
Dr. Satheesh Reddy:
Dr. Satheesh Reddy is famously known as Junior Kalam and Next-Generation Missile Man among students. He led the Mission Shakti which is India's first Anti-Satellite Missile Test (ASAT) mission. It demonstrated an extremely high degree of precision and technological prowess. This enabled India to join a select group of four nations with such capability.
He also bolstered the Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) programme and successfully demonstrated missile interception capabilities at high altitudes. He led the development of advanced avionics in India. He achieved many successful missions including long-range Agni 5 strategic missile. Reddy's contributions toward Research and development have made India self-reliant in Missiles and Avionics technologies.
Dr. Satheesh Reddy has received many other awards including National Aeronautical Prize, AIAA Missile Systems Award, National Design Award, National Systems Gold Medal, Homi J Bhabha Gold Medal and Technology Leadership Award, IEI-IEEE (USA) award for engineering excellence.
- Neha Dixit was awarded the 2019 International Press Freedom Award by the CPJ
The Indian journalist Neha Dixit was awarded the 2019 International Press Freedom Award by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ).
She has covered gender, politics, and social justice in print, TV, and online media for more than a decade.
The award recognized her investigation that shed a light on important issues in the country, including extrajudicial killings by police, in 2019.

Other journalists who received the award are Lucia Pineda Ubau and Miguel Mora from Nicaragua, Maxence Melo Mubyazi from Tanzania, Patricia Campos Mello from Brazil, Zafar Abbas from Pakistan.
- Sir David Attenborough to receive award
The Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for 2019 will be conferred on renowned naturalist and broadcaster Sir David Attenborough.
He will be awarded for his tireless work to preserve and protect biodiversity.
- Punjab CM Amarinder Singh conferred achievers award
On the occasion of 550th Prakash Purab celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh conferred achievers award to over 400 eminent Punjabi personalities for their outstanding contribution in various fields.
The awards were presented in the fields of religious and social activities, defence, literature, art, music and culture, and sports.
- Robert De Niro to be conferred with SAG Life Achievement Award
Hollywood veteran and double Oscar winner Robert De Niro will receive the SAG Life Achievement Award for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment.
The SAG Life Achievement Award is given annually to an actor who fosters the “finest ideals of the acting profession”.
He will be awarded at the upcoming Screen Actors Guild Awards.
- Amit Panghal conferred Haryana Gaurav award
India boxer Amit Panghal was conferred the Haryana Gaurav award for winning the silver medal in the World Boxing Championship. The award was conferred by the Haryana in UK Association.
The association also honored the International Sports Curator Sunil Yash Kalra.
The Haryana Gaurav award is presented every year to those who have been successful in leaving a mark in the field of sports.
- Avneet Sidhu honoured with Guru Nanak Dev Ji Achievers Award
Former international shooter Avneet Sidhu was honoured with Guru Nanak Dev Ji Achievers Award at Sultanpur Lodhi.
Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh conferred the award on Avneet during the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev for her contribution to the field of sports.
The state govt honoured 550 Punjabis who achieved success in their fields.
- Rezwana Choudhury Bannya gets ICCR Alumni award in Dhaka
Bangladesh singer Rezwana Choudhury Bannya has conferred the ICCR distinguished alumni award in Dhaka on 15 November, 2019. The award was given away by the High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das in a musical function organized by the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC).
She is known for her distinctive style of singing. She has established a musical school 'Shurer Dhara' in Bangladesh to carry forward the Guru-Shishya tradition as practised in Shantiniketan. She is also a recipient of 'Independence Award' which is the highest civilian award of Bangladesh.
- Neeraj sharma won ‘Early Career Researcher of the Year’ award
Indian-origin researcher Neeraj Sharma has been given the ‘Early Career Researcher of the Year award’ by the Australian government.
This award is given for developing next- generation battery systems such as a sodium-ion battery that will leave a minimal environmental impact.
He is a professor at the University of South Wales (UNSW)’s School of Chemistry.
- Sudarsan Pattnaik selected for an Italian Golden Sand Art Award 2019
International acclaimed Sand Artist Sudarsan Pattnaik who belongs to Odisha has been selected for the prestigious Italian Golden Sand Art Award 2019.
He will be felicitated during the International Scorrana Sand Nativity festival in Italy which is to be held from November 13 to 18, 2019.
He was honoured by the union government with the fourth highest civilian ‘Padma Shri’ award in 2014.
- West Bengal based writer Abhisek Sarkar wins award at Dhaka Lit-fest
The ninth edition of the Dhaka Lit-fest started on 07th November, 2019 with a galaxy of writers and book lovers thronging the venue ground at the Bangla Academy.
Over the three day of the festival 200 speakers, performers and thinkers, will take part in discussions on diverse topics.
The special focus of this year's lit-fest is on Indigenous Languages as the UNESCO has marked 2019 as the year of Indigenous Language Protection.
Renowned literary personalities and authors from Bangladesh and abroad like William Dalrymple, Monica Ali, H M Naqvi, Prayaag Akbar, Shashi Tharoor are participating in the festival.
Iconic Bangla author Shankar is the festival highlight of Bangla literature this year.
On the first day of the event, West Bengal-based writer Abhisek Sarkar and Bangladeshi poet Rofiquzzaman Rony were given the Gemcon Young Literature Award and Gemcon Young Poetry Award.
Abhisek and Rofiquzzaman won the awards for their manus, "Nishiddho" and "Dhoashar Tamate Rong," respectively.
- Sara Damnjanovic won Miss Asia Global title 2019
The 5th Edition of ‘Miss Asia Global Title 2019’ was organized at Gokulam Convention centre in Kochi, Kerala.
Sara Damnjanovic from Serbia has been crowned ‘Miss Asia Global 2019’.
Nguyen Thi Yen Trang from Vietnam was awarded the Miss Asia title given to the winner from the rest of the world.
Samiksha Singh from India won the sub-title of ‘Miss Beautiful Face’ Title.
