However, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Maheshwaram, Quthbullapur, and Medak colleges have not received NMC approval. The state government plans to appeal again for the LOP for these colleges. Last month, the NMC had stated that it could not grant permissions to all the colleges, prompting the government to appeal for another chance to rectify deficiencies. Subsequently, faculty were appointed, and 245 assistant professors were promoted to associate professors and posted to the new colleges.
Recently, as part of routine transfers, regular principals and hospital superintendents were sent to these colleges. Currently, there are 56 medical colleges in Telangana, both government and private, with a total of 8,515 MBBS seats. There are 28 government medical colleges with 3,915 MBBS seats. With the addition of 200 seats from the new colleges, the number of MBBS seats in government colleges will increase to 4,115. Each new college has applied for 50 seats, and permissions have been granted for four of them.
