Preparation Strategy to Succeed in SSC CHSL 2021!!

Have you completed Intermediate? Staff Selection Commission has issued notification for Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination (CHSL) –2021 !!

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has initiated the process for recruitment of posts in various Central Government Departments through the latest notification. The number of candidates preparing for the respective job exams is in the millions.

SSC CHSL-2021 will recruit for four levels of employment in various branches of the Central Government. They are -

  • Lower Division Clerk (LDC) / Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA): Pay Level – 2; Salary Range Rs.19,900 – Rs.63,200.
  • Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant: Pay Level – 4; Salary Range Rs.25,500 - Rs.81,100
  • Data Entry Operator: Pay Level – 4, Salary Range Rs.25,500 – Rs.81,100; Pay Level – 5, Salary Range Rs.29, 200 – Rs. 92,300
  • Data entry operator grade-A; Pay Level-4, Salary Range Rs.25,500 – Rs.81,100

SSC CHSL Online Grand Tests

No. of Posts
Up to five thousand posts in total are likely to be recruited by SSC CHSL. The number of posts was not mentioned in the latest notification. But if you look at the recruitment figures for the last three years, 5,649 posts were filled by CHSL in 2018, 4,893 posts in 2019 and 4,726 posts in 2020. With this, it is likely that the same number of vacancies will be filled this year as well. SSC will clarify the number of posts before the Tier-2 test.

Eligibility: Must have passed Intermediate and equivalent course to apply for the above posts.

Age limit: Must be between 18 and 27 years old by January 1, 2022. The maximum age limit will be relaxed to five years for SC / ST candidates and three years for OBC candidates.

To succeed in the SSC CHSL exam one has to focus on various syllabus topics section-wise.


Considering the CHSL Tier1 exam date... it can be assumed that three months time is available for the exam. Candidates should complete the application process as soon as possible and focus on preparation. Plan to spend at least eight hours a day for preparing. Must practice model tests, and practice papers.

SC CHSL 2021 Success Plan

For tier – 1 paper
English Language: You need to master the basic grammar. Similarly mastery of antonyms, synonyms, idioms and phrases, sentence improvement, active / passive voice, direct-indirect speech, spellings, spotting the errors is needed.

General Intelligence
If you want to excel in this section, concentrate on Verbal, Non Verbal Reasoning, Series (Number / Alphanumeric) section, Analogies, Oddman Out, Syllogism, Matrix, Direction, Word Formation, Blood Relation, Knowledge, Non Raise awareness on-Decoding topics.

Quantitative aptitude
Practice more problems on Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Profit and Loss, Percentages. Similarly, questions related to trigonometry, algebra, geometry, data interpretation, time and work, time and distance should also be practiced.

General Awareness
For General Awareness, one should focus on national and international contemporary issues, from general science, economics, history, geography and politics. The history of modern India in relation to history should be read with a special focus on the events of the independence movement. Be aware of natural resources, such as rivers and mountains, in terms of geography. We need to focus on the key developments that have taken place in the economic and trade sectors in recent times in relation to economics. Must have mastery over important vocabulary related to the respective disciplines. CHSL candidates should also consider current affairs as crucial. Particular attention should be paid to contemporary issues that have gained prominence in recent times. In the case of Stock‌ GK, information on important people in history, dates, conferences, meetings, their resolutions, awards-winners, etc. should be taken into account.

For descriptive paper
Candidates should pay special attention to Essay Writing for Descriptive Paper in Tier-2. For this, you should read articles and editorials in daily newspapers on contemporary issues and practice writing your own summary. Similarly, personal, business and official letters should be practiced in relation to letter writing. You need to read a whole passage about precision writing, identify the highlights, and have the skill to write a summary based on them. We need to move forward with a greater emphasis on practice, especially in relation to the descriptive paper.
