Key Benefits of ONOS:
- Enhanced Access: Over 1.8 crore students and researchers will gain access to nearly 13,000 e-journals from 30 renowned international publishers.
- Fostering Research Culture: The scheme will encourage research and innovation, particularly in tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
- Digital Transformation: The INFLIBNET will coordinate the national subscription, providing a user-friendly digital platform for accessing the journals.
Government's Commitment to Research and Development:
The ONOS scheme aligns with the government's vision of making India a global knowledge hub. It complements initiatives like the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which prioritizes research and innovation. The government has allocated a substantial budget of nearly ₹6,000 crore over three years to support this ambitious project.

The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) will play a crucial role in monitoring the usage of ONOS and encouraging publications by Indian researchers. The Department of Higher Education will launch a dedicated portal to facilitate access to the subscribed journals.
